From flipping houses in Cape Town to building homes in Sandton
One construction site led to the next. Three decades of lessons later, the company.
Gary Gorton's first construction project was a house in Cape Town in 1989. He and three friends bought a wreck, fixed it up, and sold it for a small profit. They did it again. And again. Somewhere between the third and the tenth house, it stopped being a side project.
Thirty years and a thousand learned lessons later, Gary founded Cube Projects in Johannesburg in 2014 with a clear principle: clients should get the build they were promised, at the price they were quoted, with one person they can hold accountable. Every Cube project still runs on that principle.
Today, Cube Projects has a permanent team of project managers, foremen, and skilled trades - backed by a roster of vetted specialists for the jobs that need a specialist. Gary still walks every major site. The team has built or renovated more than 200 homes across Johannesburg. Most of our new work comes from referrals.

One project manager, start to finish
You don't get passed between people. Your project manager is your point of contact from the first quote to the handover walk-through. They know your scope, your budget, and what you care about.
Quotes that hold
Every quote is line-item. No 'miscellaneous'. No 'to be confirmed' buried in the back. If something changes during the build, you'll know why and by how much - in writing - before any work happens.
NHBRC standards across everything
We're an NHBRC Accredited Member. Every new build is enrolled under the Home Builder Warranty, and our renovation work is held to the same construction standards.
